Unfiltered Wine Club June 2025:
"In the village of Rosswag, 99% of the vineyards are run by the local cooperative, and the remaining 1% by Weingut Roterfaden. Roterfaden occasionally collaborates with the Rosswag Coop, and together they produce delicious and well-priced wines under the “Terraces” label, such as the wine featured here. The blend for their red is Lemberger, Regent, and Schwarzriesling, and is earthy and leathery with soft tannins. This wine is beautifully layered with notes of dried strawberries and blueberries, stewed black cherries, cedar, black pepper, leather, and red plums. Its savory undertones and light-medium body provide versatility with food pairing, and on numerous occasions I’ve randomly reached for this wine with no specific food in mind to pair it with. It goes well with lean and gamey meats, grilled poultry and pork, and anything cured. For the vegetarians in the house, portobello mushrooms, green beans, zucchini, black beans, and lentils go really well with this blend. I recommend popping it in the fridge for 30 or so minutes before enjoying."
