Unfiltered Wine Club June 2025:

"Our next wine hails from the village of Rosswag in Württemberg, not too far from the Beurer vineyards in southwestern Germany. They are the only other wine estate apart from the local cooperative that farms the vineyards in this area. These guys are amazing, and their “A Light Red” is my favorite of the wines from June’s lineup. Made of Lemberger (a.k.a. Blaufränkisch) and Pinot Noir, it’s light-bodied and only comes in at 10.5% abv (hello, poolside!). I got notes of plum, cherry, overripe strawberry, and pomegranate, all held together by a strong mineral backbone. It’s herbal and peppery and has clean, dusty tannins that offer structure to an    otherwise too-easy-to-drink chillable red wine. Located alongside the beautiful Ens River, these vines sit atop blue limestone and are all terraced due to dangerously steep slopes. The vines are farmed organically with some biodynamic practices, and the winemakers practice minimal intervention in the cellar. The result is a pure terroir-driven wine that lengthens with some exposure to air. I recommend pairing this with abundant sunshine and charcuterie. It will still be amazing if it happens to be raining when you decide to drink it, in which case I’d suggest whipping up dishes that may include gamey meats, mushrooms (anyone up for making mushroom pâté?), tomatoes, pesto, and mild cheese. Please do yourself a solid and chill this wine!"
