Saignée R22 is the estate's rosé, produced entirely from Pinot Noir grown in the Sorbée vineyard. The vines average approximately 30 years of age and are planted on clay-limestone soils over Portlandian limestone, a rare geological formation in the Côte des Bar known for producing wines with distinctive spice, structure, and aromatic complexity. Made using carbonic maceration, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts in neutral oak barrels and undergoes natural malolactic fermentation without inoculation. Aging takes place in four-wine oak barrels, followed by 18 to 24 months on the lees before disgorgement. Bottled without dosage and with minimal sulfur, Saignée R22 offers a delicate infusion of red berry fruit accented by the subtle peppery and spicy character that is a hallmark of the Portlandian clay-limestone soils of Sorbée.
