Corvinone, Corvina Veronese, and Rondinella from Valpolicella, Veneto, Italy; medium to medium plus bodied and dry, silky and earthy with notes of cherry, blackberry, and prune, layers of cocoa, leather, clove, and allspice, with minty high tones, subtle oaky undertones, balanced acid, soft dry tannins, and a long velvety finish. Gets better and better with air. Sustainable

Wine Club May 2023:

"I’ve recently discovered that Valpolicella may be my favorite red wine. Valpolicella is a region in the Vento, Northeast Italy, and the wines are typically blends of Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone. Although each wine is unique, stylistically they tend to be lighter in body and easy-drinking, but still have finesse. In my humble opinion, this one from Scuola Grande is one of the best I’ve had and quite frankly the showstopper of all the Ephemeral Wines. I drank it on Mother’s Day along with a feast that included red meat, white fish, salad, and roasted vegetables and it was utter perfection. With air, its bright red fruit turned to prunes and dried cherries with chocolate, earth, leather, spice, and subtle oaky undertones. It is delicious immediately out of the bottle but WOW did it show famously after an hour or so open. It may be the perfect Spring Red."
