Made in the Fukushima Prefecturte of Japan, this sake is a +4.0 on the Sake Meter Value (see below), and is made from local Tohoku rice milled to 60%. It's light plus in body with notes of candied green apple, dried banana, wet rock, apple juice, and rainwater, with medium acidity and a savory finish.

"Okunomatsu Brewery's history dates to 1716, when a family of samurai who had been defeated in battle turned to sake production to make a living. The tradition is carried on today by the 19th generation of the family, President Joji Yusa. With other 300 years of experience, they make powerfully structured sake with clarity and precision."
The Sake Meter Value (SMV) measures the sugar content and gives insight into how sweet or dry a sake will taste. A low numerical value indicates more sugar in the sake, therefore SMV below zero suggests a sweeter taste. On the other hand, SMV at zero is neutral, and above zero tends to be drier in taste.
