Rossese Bianco from Langhe DOC, Piedmont, Italy; medium bodied and dry with notes of lemon pulp, white flowers, vanilla, and cream, with prominent minerality, subtle oaky undertones, a velvety mouthfeel, medium plus acidity, and a long, opulent finish. Practicing Organic

Unfiltered Wine Club, January 2026, 2023 vintage:

"Manzone Giovanni “Rosserto” is a thoughtful, elegant white from the Langhe AOC of Piedmont, Italy. It’s made entirely from Rossese Bianco, an old, nearly forgotten grape that once dotted northern Italy’s hillsides before being overshadowed by more famous varieties. The Manzone family farms organically and works with a light hand in the cellar, letting time and gentle oak-aging shape the wine rather than heavy intervention. Medium-bodied and supple, this wine smacks you right in the face (in the most wonderful way imaginable) with white flowers and citrus, and a velvety texture immediately sets a comforting tone for colder days. Notes of vanilla cream and hints of oak weave through the mid-palate, while a striking thread of lemon pulp runs from the first sip straight through to the finish. The medium-plus acidity keeps the richness in check, giving the wine both structure and flow. For January cooking, I want this with roasted chicken and herbs, smoked pork loin and brussels sprouts, seared salmon with asparagus, creamy potato gratin, or buttered squash and root vegetables. It also shines alongside mushrooms, soft cheeses, lemony pasta dishes, or anything that leans into cream and citrus at the same time. Serve it cool rather than cold and allow the gorgeous texture to knock your socks off."
