Unfiltered Wine Club, July 2025:

"If I was stuck on a deserted island with only one type of rosé, it would be Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo. Made from the Montepulciano grape in Abruzzo, this type of rosato is dark in color and has softer edges. It is extremely food-friendly and pairs well with pesto, pizza, tomato-based pasta dishes, duck breast, charcuterie, and salads. It also is excellent without any food, and is drinkable, refreshing, and interesting to dissect if that’s your thing. Lunaria’s Pettirose is medium-bodied with notes of cherry candy, juiced strawberries, red plums, white pepper, and cream. The tannins are soft but structured, and the acidity is medium plus, so go wild with the creamy dishes if you want! This wine came home with me and was consumed while sunbathing by a creek. It was divine. This is the kind of wine you can bring to a party and all the people will ooh and ahh over the packaging. I recommend drinking it pretty cold, but give it a few good swirly whirls to get some air into it. Without aerating it properly, it may seem to lack the cream and fruit I just raved about."
