Unfiltered Wine Club April 2025:

"On to the showstopper! Our final wine is also made by La Capranera in Campania, Italy, and is 100% Aglianico. This wine is deep and concentrated with notes of blackberry, licorice, purple flowers, tree bark, leather, all kinds of cherries, and hints of bubblegum. It's pretty robust in body with soft, chalky tannins, so I strongly recommend enjoying this wine with some food. If I were cooking lamb, fatty steak, or tomato-based pasta dishes, I would reach for this wine. I took it home and had it with beef stew and it was what made me decide to buy the wine for the Wine Club! A fun fact about this wine is that the vines grow right in the middle of the Cilento National Park! The Tyrrhenian Sea is just a few miles away, which offers a moderating effect to the grapes where they warm up during the day and cool off overnight. This allows for full ripeness without sacrificing acidity, a feat that only the best terroirs can offer!"
