Unfiltered Wine Club April 2025:

"La Capranera, which translates to "black goat" in Italian, is named for the breed of goats that graze in the national park near where the grapes for these wines are grown. Hailing from Campania, Italy, the vines grow in porous volcanic bedrock, which lends both tension and a bright mineral backbone to the wine. Made from 100% Falanghina, a grape native to Campania, this cheerful wine is pretty light on its feet with notes of pear, nuts, and honeydew melon. After it's been open for a while, notes of pink grapefruit, lemon candy, yellow pear, wet mushroom, and saline emerge, and the cleansing acidity that rounds out the finish make it KILLER with food. This wine would be amazing with sweet potatoes and fleshy squashes, but would also pair well with lighter seafood-based dishes, caprese salads, roasted chicken and vegetables, smoked pork, and, the pairing I'm most excited about, mushroom pasta. I recommend drinking this cool but not cold!"
