Unfiltered Wine Club, June 2026, vintage 2025:

"Picnic season is officially upon us, and I’ve found a perfect wine for the occasion. J. Mourat Loire Collection Rosé comes from Fiefs Vendéens, the westernmost appellation of the Loire Valley and one of France’s best-kept secrets. Located just 20 kilometers from the Atlantic coast, this cool-climate region benefits from strong maritime influences that help preserve freshness and balance in the wines. The Mourat family has been farming here since 1974, and since taking over in 2000, Jérémie Mourat has become one of the region’s leading ambassadors, championing both its history and its future through organic farming and low-intervention winemaking. This blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Gamay is unlike anything I’ve had recently. In the glass, it kicks notes of white cranberry, red currants, red table grapes, Turkish Delight, fresh flowers, and ruby red grapefruit. For food, this is a natural match for crusty-bread sandwiches; I’m thinking warm ham and Swiss, and Brie, fig, and arugula. You might also consider pairing it with smoked salmon, fresh salads, roasted chicken with potatoes and carrots, and anything brunch-related. It’s bright, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink!"
