Nebbiolo from Barolo DOCG, Piedmont, Italy; fermented with native yeasts in old barrels, then raised for 24 months in neutral Slovenian oak, then 12 months in bottle before release; medium plus bodied and dry with notes of cherry lozenge, candied strawberry, overripe cranberry and red cherry, and rose petals, layers of tar, mushroom, dried star anise, black pepper, and vanilla spice, with oaky undertones, medium plus to high acidity, chalky tannins, and a dry finish.
