Made in Brooklyn, New York, Forthave's Yellow Genepi is made from a base wine of 70% Seyval Blanc and 30% Cayuga, both Hybrid varieties grown right here in NYS, and fortified with a sugarcane-based distillate steeped with macerating white génépi flowers sourced from the French Alps. It is medium plus in body with notes of elderflower, sweet pickles, wormwood, and candied lemon zest, with a balanced, spicy finish.
The herbs for the Yellow Genepi are macerated in an organic non-GMO sugarcane spirit sourced directly from Brazil, which is also used to fortify the mixture. Génépi flowers, the alpine plant used when making French and Italian bitter liqueurs, undergo separate macerations in sugarcane distillate and water for varying lengths of time, and only a portion of these macerations are distilled before a dialed-in blend of all components is created. Forthave's Yellow Genepi is similar to Yellow Chartreuse but doesn't share the strong saffron and anise flavor profiles. There's also no added coloring in this formula, which sets it apart!
