Gamay from Beaujolais, France; medium bodied and dry with deep and concentrated notes of candied blueberry, blackberry lozenge, juiced strawberry, cherry cola, and clove, with rustic undertones, medium acidity, and soft, dry tannins. Organic and Biodynamic, no added SO2
Unfiltered Wine Club, November 2025, 2023 vintage:
"It isn’t Thanksgiving without Gamay! Our final wine, Roue Libre or “Free Wheel,” comes to us from the tiny, biodynamically farmed estate of Domaine Le Grain de Sénevé in the southern part of Beaujolais. This winery doesn’t have any electricity; the vineyards are worked by horse and berry pressing is done using a 100-year-old press. The wines are made with minimal intervention without fining or filtering, and without the addition of Sulphur (so be sure to drink this up the day you open it!). This medium-bodied treat offers deep, concentrated notes of candied blueberry, blackberry lozenge, cherry cola, and juiced strawberries, wrapped in rustic undertones and a hint of clove. Medium acidity and soft tannins give it structure without heaviness - perfect for the feast at hand. For Thanksgiving, this one shines next to spiced pork loin, cranberry-crusted brie, baked root vegetables glazed with maple, or grilled vegetable terrine for the vegetarians at the table. Serve slightly chilled to let that candied fruit and fresh acidity pop from the very first sip."
