50% Gamay and 50% Syrah from Burgundy, France; light to medium bodied and dry, earth driven with notes of plum, black concord grapes, blackberry skins, and violets, hints of meat and forest floor, with balanced acid and soft dry tannins on the finish. Organic
October 2023 Wine Club:
"Yet another beauty from Domaine de Thalie out of Burgundy, this wine consists of 50% Gamay and 50% Syrah, an atypical blend for the region. I like to call this wine “busy” as it endlessly gives. It has a rustic backbone but all this pretty black fruit - I taste black concord grapes, plums, and blackberry skins. There are hints of meat, violets, and forest floor with soft dry tannins on the finish. It’s not super heavy but has a ton of personality. This is burger wine, burrito wine, campfire wine. It loves air so don’t be afraid to play around with it in the glass. I took it home and ate it with a butter-based mushroom pasta with sage and it was pretty epic."
