65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 15% Cinsault from Southern Rhône, Rhône Valley, France; each variety is fermented and aged separately in neutral oak casks then blended in tank before bottling; medium to medium plus bodied and dry with notes of stewed strawberries and blackberries, redcurrant, red plum, and wet earth, hints of violets, black pepper, leather, and baking spice, with savory/meaty undertones, balanced acidity, well-integrated oak, and silky but structural tannins. With air the fruit notes turned from ripe/stewed to dried; this wine is seriously ageworthy. Organic and Sustainable
Forty hectares of vineyards, situated in the Vacqueyras area a few kilometers north of Sarrians, were purchased by the Reynaud family in 1935. The old maison is flanked on both sides by tall towers (hence Des Tours). Emmanuel took over this château from his father Bernard (Jacques' brother) in 1989. The vineyards are tended with organic methods, manually plowed, harvested much later than other producers, and centered around a reverence for old-vine Grenache.
