Perricone from Palermo, Sicily, Italy: medium plus to full bodied and dry; stewy and dark with notes of dried fruits -fig, prune, raisin, and cherry, layers of chocolate, cigar box, and beef bouillon, with balanced acid, smooth oaky undertones, and big dry tannins. Sustainable
Unfiltered Wine Club January 2024:
"Made from 100% Perricone, this red wine is dense and full. A portion of the grapes harvested are placed on mats and dried in the sun, “Appassimento” style, which concentrates sugars and flavors. It’s meaty and stewy with notes of prunes, dried figs and cherries, cigar box, and chocolate. The tannins are big, smooth, and dry and lend incredible depth and structure, and the acidity lifts the finish just enough to invite another sip. This wine needs a cozy night by a fire, or at the very least a warm flannel shirt or sweater. Food? Sure! But this wine is for a relaxing winter evening more than anything else."
