Made in Brooklyn, New York, from 100% domestic grown Yamada Nishiki rice that was milled down to 60%, this dry-style sake is a 3 on the Sake Meter Value (see below). It is medium bodied and clean with hints of taffy, nectarine, and bruised green apple, with a creamy texture and a smooth, savory finish. Named for the Ashokan Reservoir, which has the ideal balance of minerals to make this uniquely American sake.
The Sake Meter Value (SMV) measures the sugar content and gives insight into how sweet or dry a sake will taste. A low numerical value indicates more sugar in the sake, therefore SMV below zero suggests a sweeter taste. On the other hand, SMV at zero is neutral, and above zero tends to be drier in taste.
