Grenache, Mencía, and Trousseau from Colombia Gorge, Oregon; light plus to medium bodied and dry with notes of candied cherry, tart raspberry, alpine herbs, mint, petrichor, and earth, with medium plus acidity and soft but angular tannins. Organic
Unfiltered Wine Club, July 2026, 2024 vintage:
"Tucked into Oregon's Columbia Gorge, Analemma is a biodynamic winery and working farm where vineyards share the landscape with a cherry orchard, lavender, animals, and all sorts of growing things. I visited there a couple of years ago and have a fond memory of wandering through the vineyard eating cherries right off the trees. En Vaso brings together Grenache, Mencía, and Trousseau, three grapes with very different personalities that somehow seem perfectly happy hanging out together. Light to medium in body, it opens with alpine herbs, fresh mint, petrichor, and damp earth before candied cherry and tart raspberry begin to emerge. Medium-plus acidity keeps everything bright and balanced, while angular tannins add both structure and a pleasantly rustic edge. It is earthy, herbal, fruity, and just a little quirky; it’s the kind of red that reveals something new every time you come back to the glass. This is another great burger wine, but it has enough depth to dress up for dinner too. Try it with roasted duck or pork with cherries, mushroom flatbread, grilled eggplant, or wild mushroom farro with roasted beets and goat cheese. Give it a slight chill, pour a glass while dinner is cooking, and enjoy watching this one slowly stretch its legs."
