Grolleau from Azay-Le-Rideau, Loire Valley, France; medium bodied and dry, hearty with ripe fruit and black pepper; rustic at first but within a few minutes beautiful notes of black currant, cassis, and blackberry fruit leather come through, along with dried herbs, violets, and raspberry, with medium acid, soft but grippy tannins, and a dry finish.
