Mourvèdre and Carignan from Languedoc-Roussillon, France; light to medium bodied, energetic, and dry, with crystal-candied red fruit (Ring Pop!), notes of petrichor and earth, with medium acid, a clean texture, an a lifted finish. Bangin wine. Org
Organic. 75% Mourvèdre, 25% Carignan. The Mourvèdre is from a 25 year-old parcel, the Carignan from five year-old vines; the parcels are planted at a range of 35-50m altitude. The Mourvèdre is planted on argilo-calcaire; the Carignan is on schist. The grapes were harvested together over 2 consecutive days. The Carignan was direct pressed on arrival to the cellar and the juice transferred directly to fiberglass tanks. The whole clusters of Mourvèdre were placed in the same tanks as the direct press Carignan for a five-day, whole-cluster maceration. After five days, the Mourvèdre clusters were pressed off, and the juice was transferred back to fiberglass tanks to complete fermentation. Aged for four months in tank. Unfined, unfiltered, 21ppm SO2 added just before bottling.
